At an event in New Hampshire this past week, Donald Trump warned the crowd that there will probably be more indictments against him coming soon. But Trump doesn't appear too worried about things on the surface, as he then jokingly told the crowd that it will make his numbers go up and that the whole thing is just election interference. He may not be wrong about the polling part (and he's 100% wrong about the election interference part), as polls do now show him gaining support. Farron Cousins explains what happened.
This transcript was auto-generated. Please excuse any typos. This past week at an event in New Hampshire, Donald Trump told the crowd that Uhoh looks like I'm probably going to be indicted again soon. He told the crowd while talking about the indictments against him, which he swears he totally innocent, but he told the crowd there could be others coming. He knows there's others coming, but he says these things right to brace these people. So it doesn't come as a shock when they finally see it come across their phones in a news alert saying, Trump's been indicted a third time. He likes to, you know, go ahead and break the ice for people. So it's a little bit softer landing, but his admission here cannot be overlooked because this is really the first time in public, Donald Trump has come out and told people, I'm gonna be indicted again. Again, I should say, because before he was indicted in Manhattan, what did he do? He came out and told people, I'm about to be indicted. Before he was indicted in Florida, what did he do? He came out days before that and said, I'm going to be indicted, and now he's back out there again telling people I'm gonna be indicted. So if we're looking for patterns here, it's pretty obvious to see what happens. Donald Trump via his lawyers, because they do know, you know, the way things are working, they do communicate with the investigators. He gets this information from them and they're like, Hey man, it is not looking so good. Right? like indictments are coming. It may be next week, it may be two weeks out, but they're coming and he goes out there and he shares that information on truth social. He says it in speeches, and then it does become a reality. So if we're going by that same pattern, if in fact the pattern does exist and it's not just a coincidence, then based on when he made these comments, we might be looking at more indictments for Donald Trump this week, or possibly next week. Now, I know that's a rather quick timeline here, especially since the indictments in Florida just happened. But Trump doesn't just say these things because he feels like saying them. You know, a lot of times he says a lot of stupid stuff, obviously. But when he talks about the indictments, when he puts that out into the ether, it's because he is trying to brace his supporters for the inevitable. And at this point, I do believe that those indictments are inevitable. I think everybody agrees the indictments are inevitable, but I think we're dealing with a much shorter timeline than most of us had previously thought. You know, I have expected those indictments to come before the end of summer, but let's be real here. That's still two and a half months away. I don't think we're looking at two and a half months. I think these new indictments come before the end of July. So Donald Trump Prepping the crowd is of course his way of getting them ready for what he knows is coming on that horizon. But don't worry, because he is totally not worried about it, right? He plays it calm, cool, and collected on the surface till he goes back home. Nobody's around him and he starts freaking out on truth social. But he did tell the crowd like, ah, every time they do it, my poll numbers go through the roof. And the sixth sad reality of it is that's not an inaccurate statement. Now, they don't go through the roof. So I guess technically, you know, you get 'em on a technicality that'll lie there. But his poll numbers have gone up. Now, just to be clear, after the second indictment, his poll numbers and the immediate polls that came out did drop a couple points. But he is now not only rebounded back to where he was, but he's actually gained support. So he does get more support the more he gets indicted. But he's been indicted for things that Republicans have essentially written off. You know, oh, tax thing in Manhattan. I don't even understand the Stormer Daniels thing. Whatever it is, the documents, Biden had documents, Pence had documents, this is bs.
